Willowbrook Hospice were delighted to welcome a group of visitors from the Knowsley Older Peoples Voice recently. KOPV member, Roy Davies has supported the hospice for many years helping out at events and raising funds, and wanted to raise awareness of the hospice work by arranging this visit. We had a look at the wards, the new day therapy centre which includes dedicated out patient appointment areas, creative space, physiotherapy assessment suite and relaxation rooms. We also toured the gardens which include a beautiful Japanes Garden and a border designed by students at Wisley. Nicky Saunders, Willowbrook’s Fundraising Manager, explained how vital donations are to the work of the hospice, and how important the support of the community is to our work. Willowbrook Hospice does not charge for care offered to patients, but it will cost £2.8 million this year.

Members were impressed with the atmosphere and warmth that they experienced from the staff, and the excellent facilities. A comment made at the end of the tour was “it is like a five star hotel with medical facilities… really impressive”.
