Knowsley Older People's Voice

Older Peoples Strategy

KOPV members have been instrumental in developing a new older people’s strategy for Knowsley 2013-16 in partnership with Knowsley Council and Knowsley Clinical Commissioning Group (KCCG).

The document is entitled ‘Age of Opportunity – Working as One’ and replaces an earlier Strategy developed in 2008. One of the most important aspects of the strategy has been the involvement of members in identifying those issues of most importance for older people during an extended process of consultation undertaken with Knowsley Older People’s Voice.

Four key themes have been identified for inclusion in the Strategy:

  • Being Physically and Emotionally Healthy
  • Being part of a strong and dynamic Local Community
  • Having a satisfying and fulfilling home life
  • Maximising Income and Spending Power

Work Groups comprising officers from partner agencies and older people will now be established for each of these themes to identify and implement the changes and improvements that will help to improve quality of later life.
