Transport is regularly highlighted as an area of concern by older people in Knowsley. It has been a recurrent theme for a number of years, and became one of the eight themes highlighted for action within the Knowsley Older People’s Strategy launched in 2009. In response to this, a multi-agency Transport Implementation Group has been established to look at commonly experienced transport issues, and to try to identify effective solutions to those issues.
Common public transport issues for older people include buses that stop too far from the kerb, drivers who set off before passengers have a chance to sit down, and cars that park obstructing bus stops.
