Knowsley Older People’s Fun O’lympics

The fourth annual Fun O’lympics took place on Friday 21st October 2011 at the brand new Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park. For the 4th successive year Halewood emerged as the winning team.

“This is making the others all the more competitive, discount viagra ” said Michelle Gilmurray, sickness Olympics Coordinator with Knowsley Council. “Most of the competitors treat the event as a bit of fun, but Halewood keep stealing the show and that’s getting to them!”

Inspired by the Bejing Olympics in 2008, Knowsley organized an Olympics Event for the over 50’s in September of that year. Activities were carefully chosen to ensure that both the active and less active were able to participate and included:

Indoor Bowling Scrabble New Age Kurling
Connect 4 Darts Bocchia
Dominoes Badminton Table Tennis
Football Penalties Netball Shoot Swimming

Four local teams have been formed representing Halewood, Huyton, Kirkby and a composite team from Prescot/Whiston/Cronton/KnowsleyVillage. After training during the summer, participants compete at the annual Fun O’lympics event in their chosen activities to win a gold, silver or bronze medal.
