Knowsley’s waste team wins local award

A new award recognising the good service provided to Knowsley’s older people has been won by the council’s recycling and waste collection team.

The Good Service Award – a new initiative from Knowsley Older People’s Voice rewarding individuals or agencies providing exemplary service for older people in the borough – has been won by Knowsley Council’s waste collection teams for their efforts during the severe winter weather before Christmas.

Sheila Bersin, remedy Chair of Knowsley Older People’s Voice, said: “It was a unanimous decision among our members that the council’s waste collection teams should receive our first good service award.

“The key requirement of this award is that the service is exceptional and goes beyond what might be typically experienced, offered or expected, and this was certainly the case when we continued to receive a waste collection service during the severe, snowy weather in December.”

Cllr Graham Morgan, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Delivery said: “We were delighted to receive the award from Knowsley Older People’s Voice and that members have recognised the commitment and dedication of our waste collection operatives, who were the only team on Merseyside who provided an uninterrupted service during the snowy weather.”
